About

Its being developed by brother and sister team who, through hours, weeks, months and years of discussion and self volunteering decided to put the project together to enhance the well being of others through positive healthy space, plants, food and application.

Last August 2014 we decided to buy our beautiful house in Hungary in the rural countryside of Somogy to set up our mission.

Since then we have also managed to obtain the neighbouring house which now gives us over 500M2 Living space and 10,000M2 growing space.

Both gardens are worn, tired and full of parasites, there are a few fruit and nut trees screaming for help and large meadow areas which we are now developing into fruit forest gardens, veggie beds and water systems, all using permaculture principles and a few other methods we have come across.

Since August we have developed about 300M2 of vegetable gardens using no dig mulch methods our first crops are growing and we have planted over 20 new fruit saplings. Strawberry, raspberry, blueberry and blackcurrant bushes so we are well on the way and it’s so exciting!

Other than creating the bountiful gardens we are also developing a lab space so we can play around with ingredients to bring new natural products to the market, starting with first aid applications.

Our family consists of 10 chickens, 2 cats, 1 dog, 2 under 5’s, the siblings and ducks and goats to follow in June.

We love to gather, forage, harvest and wildcraft, play, dance, garden, cook, eat, sing and create and are looking for companions on their travels to join in the fun.

So, if your looking for a wholesome volunteering experience then do get in touch.
Our current to do list looks a little like this, but can change daily!

- Building interesting garden structures out of recycled materials
- Germinating and dealing with the seedlings
- Creative artistic creations
- Clearing interesting stuff from the new house
- Antique renovations
- Animal Husbandry
- Dog training
- Setting up the summer kitchen
- Building a composting toilet -DONE
- Setting up the Orchard
- Herb gardening design and planning
- Vegetable gardening
- House Stuff, cleaning, cooking etc
- Wild crafting, harvesting, foraging for preserving and winter foods
- A little bit of child and animal entertainment!
- Some general building and maintenance jobs
- Some basic Administration

The Project is situated in the beautiful rural Provence of Somogy in a little traditional agricultural village called Kaposhomok.

We are only 12kms from the beautiful city of Kaposvar which is twinned with Bath in the UK and around 50kms from the Lake Balaton Shores.

Public transport links to the village are frequent by bus and train.

In Kaposvar there are excellent facilities, a daily farmers market, train station to connect with the Balaton or Budapest, 2 kms of pedestrianised streets for the excellent festivals that take place and a relaxing thermal water park.

We are surrounded by forests, lakes and other glorious sites to keep you busy if you like walking and discovering. There are also lots of different bird colonies here including the golden oriole and hoopoe, it really is magical. Most of the trees surrounding the property are edible.

The majority of the villagers are semi self sufficient and grow food and raise animals for this purpose.

There are 2 large bee farms in the village, sheep and horse farms where you can ride into the forests.

There is a wine hill at the back of the village with over 40 wine houses spotted over the beautiful countryside, so time on a vine yard may be of interest which can be arranged.

We love to cook and create; we often have camp fires, art parties and arrange other interesting events to keep us entertained. Should you have any creative flair then come and unleash it!

We have many comfortable clean rooms to accommodate you, and tents for the garden should you prefer the outdoors.

1 meal a day will be offered and lots of seasonal fruit and veggies to keep you going.
We only ask for 5/6 hours a day, NO weekends, these days are for relaxation and to get out and discover this amazing and culture filled country. We can give you some ideas of what to do and see.

We can also teach you some really interesting subjects whilst you are here if you like organic gardening, old building Techniques, Shepherding, making cheese, jams, compotes, permaculture, hydroponics, composting, foraging, fermentation, natural product making plus much more, or just relax and enjoy the wonderful climate.

We look forward to welcoming you.

Happy Travels
